Once you register a domain, it is registered in your name / details for a period of 1 to 10 years. So say you registered a domain name today for a period of 1 year. This domain is yours upto the same date next year.

Next year, say for example, you forget to renew your domain on the date of expiry. Don’t panic!! Most registrars allow a certain grace period for domain renewal. The maximum allowed grace period is 40 days from the date of expiry of the domain. This is what we at Tradebooster Domains allow. During this period the status of your domain would be ‘Renewal Hold’.

If you do not renew your domain in this grace renewal period, we hand over your domain back to the registry. The status of your domain changes to ‘Redemption Period’. If you decide to restore your domain within the redemption period, which is typically 30 days, you shall be charged 10 times the cost of a 1 year renewal, typically INR 4500 – INR 8000 depending on the domain extension. This is not what we charge you, but this is what the registry charges us.

If you fail to restore your domain in the ‘Redemption Period’ also, the status of your domain changes to ‘Pending Delete’. This is typically 5-7 days. Nothing can be done to restore / renew the domain during this period. After ‘Pending Delete’, the domain is made available again for a fresh registration.
