Mail Error – 0×800CCC0F
Symptom
When you start Outlook Express or try to send an e-mail message, you may get the following error message:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: ‘mail.yourdomainname.com’, Server: ‘mail.yourdomainname.com’, Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0×800CCC0F
Solution
Check your Outlook Express settings, making sure that the POP3 and SMTP servers are set to mail.yourdomainname.com, and that your full user name and password are correct. (Tip. Watch out for SMTP spelt as STMP, and that commas are not there in place of full points).
If you’re still having problems, it could be that Outlook Express is itself corrupt. Microsoft’s instructions on how to delete it and reinstall it, along with making a backup of your address books etc, are at for Windows 95, 98, and ME and for Windows 2000.
