Mail Bouncing – Domain Size Limit Exceeded

Problem:

Mails are bouncing back from user accounts on your domain even though individual mailboxes are empty. The error is “Domain Size Limit Exceeded”.

Solution:

Domains are always setup under a particular hosting package which gives you XXX MB of email space for your domain in totality. Most of the hosting packages limit individual mailboxes to XX MB of email space per mailbox. However, some users prefer to leave the email space per mailbox to unlimited. In such a scenario if one user mailbox or a few mailboxes take up the entire space for your hosting package (because of unlimited space per mailbox), other users whose mailbox is completely empty would also not be able to receive emails since your total domain email space quota is full. The sender would receive a message back from our server stating the error message “Domain Size Limit Exceeded”. We strongly encourage that you restrict indvidual mailbox sizes to a desired size so that the problem is limited to an individual mailbox and not the entire domain.

Buying a domain name for your Business?

Purchasing an existing domain which is profitable can give a huge boost to your online business as a prized domain name has the potential to draw huge traffic to your website. However, the purchase of an existing domain name is not always lucrative and hence it is best to indulge in thorough research before determining on an existing domain name.

The best way to prevent frustrations and disappointments associated with buying an inferior existing domain name is to research the subject thoroughly. Alternatively, you can also avoid these issues by hiring the services of a reputed firm as such as Tradebooster. You need to establish that the determined existing domain name is valuable and has the potential to fetch you good returns in the long term.

There are a number of things you should check for in a good existing domain name.

  • Top level domains such as .com, .biz and .info are the best ones to look for when you are looking for a profitable domain name. They have a lot of commercial value, are easy to remember and are amongst the most preferred of domains. The inherent commercial value of a domain that has a high page rank (the value assigned by Google to your website or webpage) will raise its value among prospective buyers, so the page rank is the most important factor you should look for.
  • Research the domain you are going to buy. You can get a lot of information on this from Google. Try the Google search engine. To quickly determine whether your site is still in our index, just perform a Google site search for its entire URL eg. site:preferreddomainname.com.You can also learn about the ranking of the existing domain from this tool. Find out about its ranking as well whether it still exists in the Google index.
  • One of the most important aspects of domain name relate to the quality of the incoming links. Organic links are better for this purpose, compared to those that do not come to the domain directly. If you are wondering what an organic link is, it is a link that comes in from another website that has a good page rank on the search engine.
  • Another factor you should consider is the age of the existing domain. Find out who created the domain and when. The commercial value of the domain will increase with the life span of the domain, so make this a key ingredient in your searches. You can use the WHOIS service at Tradebooster Domains to look for information on this factor.

An existing domain that has all the qualities above is a great deal, so make sure you invest the time required to check these out.

Web Hosting – A Complete Strategy

Web hosts need to assume the role of a frontline consultant, to offer insights and core solutions that “significantly add to a business’s existing processes”, according to Carl Burnham, author of WEB HOSTING, A Complete Strategy. “Web hosts that focus on how their customer’s business operates, are able to speak their language, avoid “technospeak”, and be more responsive to customer support needs will thrive,” Burnham says. Some of the value-added Web services in hottest demand that are highlighted in the book include: performance monitoring streaming media services content distribution security load balancing managed hosting

“Web hosts that market on price, and not these critical value-added services will not survive. As more brick-and-mortar businesses now venture online, opportunities for web hosts to capture new markets continue to arise. Existing web sites with basic brochure-type content are seeking to add e-commerce capabilities.”

Besides providing essential strategies for IT professionals interested in web hosting, it also gives valuable insights to businesses. The business professional can learn about the different types of web hosts, how to improve their own customer service, and how a business can decide among hosting plans available to outsource to that will provide the most significant advantages for their type of operations.

How to Avoid Domain Name Theft – Part II

As discussed in our previous post, domain thefts are very often the result of the ignorance and neglect of the owner of the domain name. It is good to know that domain theft can be avoided to a great extent by exercising some caution and diligence. Here are some additional tips on avoiding domain name theft:

Safeguard your admin email

It is highly recommended that you limit the access to your admin to yourself. However, in unavoidable circumstances, it is best to share the access with individuals whom you trust completely. You should also minimize the possibility of email hijacking by securing a personal domain as your email, as personal domain emails are comparatively less susceptible to theft and hijacking.

Acquire the rights to your domain name in all the popular domain extensions such as .biz, .com, .info and .net. This can avoid domain theft to a large extent as it becomes difficult for the cyber squatter to deflect traffic from your domains. It also makes it difficult for them to offer products and services similar to yours on similar domain names. You can also go one step ahead by acquiring the rights to all misspellings of your domain name.

Register a trademark

Registering a trademark is undoubtedly one of the best ways to safeguard your brand identity and domain name. You can check www.uspto.gov to find authentic information on registering trademarks and copyrights.

Register domain names for multiple years

Expiration is a major cause of domain theft and that is one reason why registering a domain name for multiple years can minimize the probability of losing a domain name.

Seek the Services of a reputed firm which deals with the sales, registration and appraisals of domains. A reputed firm such as Tradebooster would ensure that:

  • Your domain is locked at the registrar as well as the registry.
  • Your domain account is set to high security, which in turn would require email verification for crucial changes such as registrant changes, DNS and transfers.
  • All the requests are denied unless they are initiated and authorized by the registrant.
  • You are contacted personally to check the authenticity of the request even in the instance of slight doubt on the legitimacy of the request.

By following the safety measures listed above, you can be assured of a secure domain name, which in turn would inadvertently result in a very strong online presence.

Mail Error – 0x800CCC0D/E

Symptom

You may get one of the following error messages;
The connection to the server has failed. Account: ‘mail.yourdomainname.com’, Server: ‘mail.yourdomainname.com’, Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
The host ‘mail.yourdomainname.com’ could not be found. Please verify that you have entered server name correctly. Account:’yourname’, Server ‘mail.yourdomainname.com; protocol: POP3, Port:110′Secure(SSL):No, Socket Error:11001,Error Number 0x800CCC0D.

Solution

If you have not changed anything since the last time you checked / sent mail, do not adjust your settings simply close Outlook Express, reopen it and try again later.

If this has not resolved your problem you need to check your Outlook Express settings, making sure that the POP3 and SMTP servers are set to mail.yourdomainname.com, and that your full user name and password are correct.

Then test your connection by following this procedure.
Click the Start button then RUN type in cmd on (Windows NT/2000/XP) or Command (Windows 95/98/ME). This will open a new command prompt window, with white text on a black screen.

Type in the following exactly as it appears.

telnet mail.yourdomainname.com 110 and then click the Enter key on your keyboard. You will then be connected to the email server.

Type in USER followed by your email address e.g. USER username@yourdomainname.com and then click the Enter key. You will then get a message +OK

Please enter your pass, with the PASS command

Type in PASS followed by your password e.g. PASS us1234 and click the Enter key. If it is correct, you will get an OK Well done message.

If you can do this, you have connected to our server and so the problem lies somewhere with Outlook Express.

If you can’t get in this way either, it could be that your password has been reset by your system administrator or it has somehow become corrupted. Try contacting your system administrator for a password reset or call us on +91-9213943166 for assistance. Try again.

If this does not resolve your problem are you running anti virus software or firewalls? If so disable them and try again.

If the problem has vanished, configuration of these products could be the problem, particularly if they are set to automatically scan incoming and outgoing email.
NOTE: Windows XP has a firewall built into the operating system which you can disable by selecting there too and try again.

The basic checks have now been completed. If you are still getting this error message then please contact us on +91-9213943166 for assistance on the same.
